How many times does this movie have to be chosen as the #1 funniest comedy in order to have them treat the franchise right and make a new movie?
Back in January, 2009 it was Entertainment Weekly who voted Ghostbusters #1 Comedy in the last 25 years.
Then it was IGN who said Ghostbusters was the #1 Comedy of All-Time in April 2010. They also chose it back in 2005.
Most recently it was Shadowlocked who picked Ghostbusters as the top movie from any genre in the 80s.
Sure some people will disagree about it being #1, but there is no question that it should be at the top of every list. So Sony, if you’re reading this… BRING GHOSTBUSTERS BACK!
The Preston & Steve Show, a popular radio show in Philadelphia, hosts an annual Cardboard Classic at Jack Frost Mountain. Basically, the event is a contest where people build “sleds” with different themes out of cardboard, tape, glue, string, and paint, then they ride down one of the snow covered mountains. Prizes are given away for best sled, best time, etc. Each sled is designed with any theme the builders desire. This year, a Ghostbusters Stay Puft Marshmallow Man sled was submitted and it won for best sled.
Adam and I represented the Philadelphia Ghostbusters and participated in an interview with the hosts Aaron and Gozer of The Geekcast! Geekcast is a podcast that is great for geeks, learning about technology, games, movies, and everything else! They wanted to do a Halloween episode and asked the PGB to participate!
We had a great time and talked about the PGB group and the charity work we do, as well as our geek interests and even answered Ghostbusters trivia! I think we did pretty well! The interview was streamed live with a live chat and has now been edited and added to their podcast.
It’s a great listen, and tune in to past and future episodes coming from The Geekcast! You can hear it at either of these links…
Peter H. Aykroyd, Dan Aykroyd’s father, has a new book called “A History of Ghosts: The True Story of Seances, Mediums, Ghosts, and Ghostbusters.” His family legend helped inspire the book, his son, and ultimately… The greatest movie ever, Ghostbusters!
But the bigger news is… Dan says “it looks pretty good” for Ghostbusters 3!!!
We Are Movie Geeks (WAMG) recently posted their list of Top 10 Ensamble Comedies and it’s a great list. Included are some favorites of mine such as Ghostbusters, The Princess Bride, and Monty Pyton and the Holy Grail. Check out the rest and read the great write-ups included.
I personally think Ghostbusters should be higher than #5.
The Philadelphia Ghostbusters assembled a team and had an outing at the Philadelphia Art Museum on Sunday, August 30th. It was a beautiful day for them to conduct their photo shoot with new members, but they also found time to pose for pictures with fans, and collect money for charity. The team consisted of Nate, Matt, Ed, Tony, Rose, and Jack. Thank you to all the fans who were there that day and who donated to our upcoming charity walk!
The Philadelphia Ghostbusters have signed up to participate in the Light The Night Walk for the Leukemia & Lymphona Society on October 24, 2009. They will be raising as much money as they can to help this great cause which helps bring hope to thousands of people battling blood cancers. If you would like to help the cause and donate now, please visit the PGB Team Homepage!

PUT YOUR HANDS TOGETHER!
Ernie Hudson (Winston from Ghostbusters) has joined NBC’s “Heroes” in a recurring role, says The Hollywood Reporter. He will play Captain Lubbock, a Baltimore detective. Lubbock is reportedly on the hunt for one of the other characters on the show.
Hopefully he will have a super power and it will be to convince Hollywood to make Ghostbusters 3.
